Synopsis: The Pacific recounts the actual experiences of three U.S. marines (Robert Leckie, John Basilone and Eugene Sledge) in the Pacific during World War II. This miniseries follows these three men and fellow Marine from the first battle against Japan on Guadalcanal, through the rain forests of Cape Gloucester and Peleliu strengths, across the bloody sand Iwo Jima and Okinawa horror, until he managed to come victorious, though with difficulty, to their homes the day of victory over Japan.
This HBO production is based on the books Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie, and With the Old Breed by Eugene B. Sledge. Have also been conducted for many conducting interviews with the protagonists of these stories inspired by real events.
